We offer a wide range of walks to suit all ages, abilities and personal tastes. During our first night meeting we will agree with the group the most suitable walks for the group, and try and accommodate every taste.

Our Guides are widely versed on the History, Geology and Mythology of North Dartmoor.

  • History: Why was Dartmoor so popular with the Saxons?
    They used Dartmoor as and administrative centre, with kings such as Harold, Ethelred and Edward all using the North Dartmoor as a location for their royal mint.

  • Geology: Why was Dartmoor an Island?
    We pass the shoreline of the early Pleistocene era at 212m, and visit the results of four Ice Ages some 600 thousand years ago.

  • Mythology: Who is "Old Dewer"?
    We recount a number of haunting stories of Dewer's visitation to the moor to claim more souls! And the evidence he left behind.
