Transportation

At Moorgate the Dartmoor Experience we believe safety is of paramount importance, not only on the Moor but while transporting our guest as well.

• The roads in and around North Dartmoor can get very tight!
• High hedges can reduce the passenger pleasure by restricting views and increasing disorientation.
• The hazards of farm animals and machinery all add to the joys of Moor driving.
• Muddy roads and uneven surfaces cause additional hazards to the unfamiliar driver.
• During the summer holiday makers (Grockles) are an additional hazard.

We use Transit type minibuses to transport our guests. We find it is a good balance of capacity and capability. Being adventurous in nature we typically restrict our holiday groups to 8 people, this keeps the Experience personal and comfortable.

We insist our drivers have at least 15 years experience of driving. That they hold a clean UK driving license and where possible have attended a ‘Defensive Drivers Course’.We take into account fatigue and schedule regular breaks whilst travelling the motorways, and utilise satellite navigation to ensure the most suitable routes are used at all times.

At the start of the weekend we collect our guest at the agreed pickup point. We travel to the selected accommodation and onto the Dinner location. After an evening out, it’s back to the accommodation.

Each morning our guest are collected and transported to both walk start points, they are met at the end of each walk and taken back to the accommodation to freshen up. Transport to and from dinner is then provided.

As you can see we are responsible for getting you where you need to be at the right time.
